Introduction • Introduce the framework and background research • For this write up you will cover: • A rationale and justification for your study • The aim of your study – a clear statement about what is being investigated and what is expected • A hypothesis – a clear, concise prediction of what is expected to be demonstrated and how you operationalized it (eg. how you quanitified your data) • A null hypothesis
Method • Design – type of research conducted and why; ethical considerations • Participants – researchers involved and target population; sampling procedure and size of sample used • Materials – clear outline of materials/apparatus used • Procedure- where the research was undertaken, instructions given to participants and any other relevant details (consent, debriefing if done, etc) • Recording of observations – what you did and why; method used, description of forms or means of recording
Results • Narrative presentation of results related to the aim and hypothesis of the experiment • Explanation of how you interpreted the results • Do not include personal details of participants (should be regarded as confidential)
Discussion • Explanation of findings – detailed account; why results would occur in relation to known research • Relationship to initial aim and hypothesis • Limitations, modifications and suggestions for further research
Conclusion • Finish with a concluding summary of the findings as related back to the aim and hypothesis • Short paragraph is fine
