Clinical features • History of Fever for 3 days – up to 38.9 • With upper respiratory symptoms • Fever settles as rash appears • Rash usually on trunk but also on thighs arms and neck • Blanching “Rose coloured” maculopaplar rash, with occasional white halo.
Features continued • Herpes Virus type 6 • Affects children age 6-18 months most commonly • Rash lasts few hours to few days
Differential Diagnosis • Rubella • Measles • Scarlet Fever
Complications • Febrile convulsions • Otitis Media
