  1. Parking ProgramsFrom New School Old School To Presented by Jim Sayre, Dagong Wang, and Cynthia Fairchild

  2. What is the NW program We allow employees with University parking permits to park across campus in cashiered parking facilities between 4:30pm and 8:30am on weekdays and all weekend. This is called their Night and Weekend (NW) privilege. We also sell a permit that’s specifically for those times.

  3. Permits from here can park HERE

  4. Old SchoolHow we used to process NW transactions Employee takes transaction (spitter) ticket when they enter a cashiered parking facility. When exiting, they write their parking permit number and their name on the transaction ticket. Present the ticket along with their parking permit to the cashier. Cashier processes a no-charge “NW” transaction and the gate automatically raises. If the employee was parked during business hours hours we would charge the normal hourly rate at the cashier’s booth.

  5. Graduate Medical Education Program • In an effort to support the accreditation of this program, we allow Residents and Fellows to park in more proximate location when called back to the hospital. • Varying rates based on the amount of use. • Proximity card used to enter and exit. • If charges are accrued they are payroll deducted. This was a great model for us to build off of for an automated NW program. So we did…

  6. NW Automation Initial test group of 10 people Pilot NW program was approximately 500 people. Currently over 10,000 card holders. Expanded to include student permits and University billing.

  7. Reporting and Compliance

  8. Individual Card Activity

  9. Educational Contact • Card activity is monitored throughout the month. • Initial contact is educational and/or inquiring about possible issues encountered. • Equipment issues can be identified when group patterns of missed readings are present. • Continued card misuse results in additional contact, reinforcing the desired behavior. • Charges are normally assessed at this time for missed readings.

  10. Surcharges & Credits

  11. Changing Behavior

  12. Compliance • This is the same cardholder that was pictured with multiple missed readings in March. • Goal is to change the behavior/pattern of misuse.

  13. Future Peak usage data. Current usage data. Accommodations for wide range of University programs.
