Transferring PSEO Credits Transferring PSEO Credits • Credits transfer differently depending on where you go to college • Each individual institution decides which credits to take and what they count for • In state transfers should not be a problem • Always keep the syllabi from your classes
Incoming Credits Attending College Incoming Credits • ADVANTAGES • Head start on peers • Started your liberal education requirements • Know what college is like • Well on your way to graduating early • You have saved money! • DISADVANTAGES • Started college but aren’t truly IN college • Have to decide your major sooner • Not all of your credits may transfer the way you want them to
Attending College Attending College • Freshman Orientation is still mandatory! • You will know some things…but not everything • Take the opportunity to be a leader • A time to meet new people
Paying for College Paying for College FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid) • Priority deadline – March 1st, 2010 • Application covers grants, loans and work study funds • http://www.fafsa.ed.gov Internal Scholarships • Application is sometimes apart of your admissions application • Double check with your college of choice to ensure that you apply Outside Scholarships • Community scholarships • Professional organization scholarships • Many small scholarships add up over time
Attending the U of M Next Fall Finalizing the Process Attending the U of M next fall… • Participation in PSEO does NOT guarantee admission into the U of M • AHS3 will need to remove your registration hold before your freshman orientation
You’re not in College Yet! Finalizing the Process You’re not admitted into college just yet! • College visits are NOT excused absences at the U of M • You still represent PSEO, even during the summer
Finalizing the Process • Remember to bring the following items to your preregistration appointment: • Updated balance sheet • Updated PSEO form • Your preferred classes for spring semester Senior Meeting Quiz
