What do we hope to achieve • Launch of new London NHS/HE Partnership Group • Identify key areas for collaboration over the next 2 years • Explore how we can make our contribution to significant local & national workstreams such as the NHS London Workforce and Education strategies, NHS Evidence and the growing research agenda London Health Libraries

Some facts … • In London, more than 40% of the total NHS workforce look to an HE library as their main service • In London, over 56% of NHS staff have access to electronic resources procured through London Medical School deals • HE library staff play a vital role in the life of the London Health Libraries network London Health Libraries
Some achievements … • Service Level Agreements • Electronic resources – promotion, access management, training materials • Training & CPD, e.g. FILE • Discussion lists, e.g. LIS-MEDICAL • Resource sharing London Health Libraries
More achievements … • M25 Consortium / London Health Libraries Joint Working Group, 2004-7 • Agreement on London-wide Student Charter for placement students • Joint procurement, e.g. trial of Social Policy and Practice database in 2006 • Mutual support London Health Libraries
Some opportunities … • Build on joint procurement activity • HE/NHS collaborative bodies – Academic Health Science Centres, Health Innovation and Education Clusters … • Burgeoning research networks • Joint initiatives with M25 groups, e.g. CPD25, Resource Discovery, Walk in Access schemes • NHS Evidence – and its key objective to get research into practice London Health Libraries
London NHS/HE Partnership Group • Each HEI with a health and social care faculty will be invited to be involved • HEIs will be asked to nominate 6 representatives for Steering Group which will meet at least twice a year. 6 NHS library representatives will also serve on group • Sub-groups will tackle specific areas of work, as appropriate, e.g. joint procurement of electronic resources • Annual meeting each autumn London Health Libraries
After today … • I will ensure all the relevant London HEIs are informed about the new group • Key contacts will be confirmed for each HEI • Nominations for Steering Group will be sought after Christmas • First meeting of Steering Group before Easter London Health Libraries
