Abiding John 15: 1-26
Abide • verb • To stay, remain, to be true, to persevere, to remain beside or near. • To abide is to live from and stay in the very source of life and love – Christ.
What does it mean to abide? • Connection • Dependence • Continuance
In verses 1-3, this is our position John 15: 1-3 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear he prunes that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.”
John 15 • v. 12 – We love because he first loved us • v. 13 – Greater love has no one than this… • v. 15 – Not servants, but friends • v. 16 – He chose and appointed us to go and bear fruit, that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give it to you.
John 15 • v. 17 – I command you, so that you will love one another. • v. 26 – But when the helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.
