  8. Problematik • Erfassung von Geodaten in einem System • Bearbeitung später an einem anderen System von anderen Leuten • Beide Systeme benutzen nicht die gleichen Formate • Inkompatibilität

  9. Motivation • Wachsender Markt für GIS-Systeme • Gedanke der „Globalisierung“ • Geodaten werden standardisiert

  10. Vision von OGC • Vollständige Integration von Geodaten und ihrer Verarbeitung in die normale Datenverarbeitung • Verbreitung der Nutzung von GIS in der IT-Industrie

Vorgehensweise • OGC produziert Spezifikationen für Interoperable Systeme zur Verarbeitung von Geodaten • Technical Committe (TC) erstellt Abstract Specifications • Request for Proposal (RFP): Ausschreibung für implementierbare Spezifikationen auf Grundlage des Abstract Specifications und technischer Randbedingungen • Mehrstufiger und komplexer Konsensprozess zur Auswahl der endgültigen Spezifikation

Kuhn) • Joint Research Center, Ispra • Intergraph, LaserScan, SICAD Geomatics • Ziel: • Organisation des Informationsaustausch zwischen OGC und europäischen Anwendern
