Problem Statement Which brand of paper towel is the strongest?
Variables Constant Variables: Amount of water Pennies Manipulated Variable: Brand of paper towel Responding Variable: How much pennies it can hold.
Hypothesis: If we test Bounty, Paseo, Kirkland, Sparkle, Valutime, Publix Ultra, and the school’s paper towel, then Bounty will be the strongest.
Materials 7 brands of paper towels 60 mL of water Pennies Measuring cup Cup
Procedures 1. Fill the measuring cup with 60 mL of water. • Get a paper towel and completely wet it in the cup. • Gently squeeze any excess water. • Gently open up the paper towel. • Gently place one penny at a time on the paper towel until it breaks apart. • Repeat the experiment twice with the same paper towel. • Repeat with the other 6 brands of paper towel. .

Results Bounty averaged 36 pennies. Paseo averaged 154 pennies. ValuTime averaged 123 pennies. Publix Ultra averaged 233 pennies. School paper towel (Tweety) averaged 125 pennies. Sparkle averaged 179 pennies. School paper towel (Sly) averaged 56. Kirkland averaged 359 pennies.
Conclusion My hypothesis was not supported by my experiment. Bounty held the least amount of pennies, while Kirkland held the most. However, when we looked at the sizes of the paper towels, Bounty was the smallest. In the future we will make sure all of the paper towels are the same size before experimenting.
Application • This experiment can help us in life because it showed us which paper towel is the strongest. Next time we go to the store, we will buy Kirkland.

Abstract • We wanted to find out which paper towel is the strongest. We hypothesized that Bounty would be the strongest; however, Kirkland was the strongest one.
