This includes any type of technology used to help educators and learners achieve their goals and enhance their curriculum. Audio, video, digital images, computer software, and Internet resources are probably the most frequently used educational technologies. But even email, mobile phones, and Twitter can be used for educational purposes by the creative instructor.
The key to making technology an effective educational tool is planning, evaluation and on-going training. Never lose sight of your key goal, which is to meet the learners’ needs. Assess learners' educational goals and build from there.
Technology Planning 1. Who are the learners? 2. What is the current curricular focus? 3. What types of educational technology materials are currently being used? 4. What types of educational technology do we envision using in the future? 5. What resources will we need to obtain to assist us in implementing this? 6. What types of training will need to be scheduled? 7. How will this be integrated into the curriculum? 8. What educational outcome do we hope to achieve with the integration of this educational technology? 9. How will we evaluate or measure the success of the use of these materials?
