  6. Culture Costa Ricans have a great love for music. Though they listen to Everything from classical, to disco, to calypso, for dancing most choose Traditional Latin rhythms such as salsa, merengue, and lambada. ¡Pura Vida!

  7. Culture Costa Ricans, otherwise known as Ticos, are typically very fun loving people. They enjoy life and have ample opportunity throughout the year to celebrate. From New Year’s festivities to All Soul’s Day, Ticos know how to live life to the fullest.

  8. FOOD!!! Costa Rican food is flavored by garlic, herbs, and other mild spices. Arroz con pollo, gallo pinto, and tortilla de queso are three main dishes enjoyed throughout the country.

  9. Because of the mild climate, tropical fruits life avocados, star fruit, and guava are readily available. Vegtables, such as camote and raíz de chayote add variety to traditional dishes. Costa Rica is also home to some of the world’s finest coffee.

  11. Rain Forest Aerial Tram Go experience being one with nature. Seeing a natural rainforest and experiencing new sight we’ve never seen before. Zipping through the top of the trees like the monkeys living there and taking in beautiful sights.

  12. Jade Museum We get to be able to go see preserved history of the past in a whole other country. To see what they have discovered and the beautiful things from 300 BC to 700 AD. Also we get to be able to learn more about the culture of the people who use to live their and then be able to share it with others.

  13. Museo Oro Precolombino This Museum will show us about the culture and a lot about their religion. It will give us an insight about the past of the people who use to live there and the amazing things they did in the past and the beautiful artwork that they have created dating back to 500 AD to 1500 AD

  14. San José, Costa Rica 10 Day Caravan Trip June 1st– 10th

  15. Day Trip 1-3 • Day 1 – San José, Costa Rica • Caravan transfer us from the San José airport to the hotel Barcelo Palacio for a two night stay. Room check in 3:00 p.m. Dine in the hotel, then relax and explore the hotel and prepare for the adventures. • Day 2 – Poás Volcano, Cloud Forest • This morning take a drive through Costa Rica’s famous coffee growing region. Visit Poás Volcano. View inside the crater from an overlook. Next, hike the Escalonia Cloud Forest Trail, home of epiphytes, orchids, ferns and tropical hummingbirds. Then, a short walking tour through a small family coffee farm. Sample fresh Costa Rican coffee. Then, see San José’s Plaza de la Cultura, Central Park and the National Theatre. Visit the Gold Museum and see pre-Columbian artifacts.   • Day 3 – Butterfly Garden, Tortuguero Park • Scenic morning drive through Braulio Carrillo Park. Look for cascading waterfalls. Visit a butterfly garden. See a banana plantation. Then, cruise through rivers and canals to the Tortuguero National Park. Look for toucans, parrots, kingfishers and the rare green macaw. Afternoon, go to the Green Turtle Research Station. Learn about efforts to protect the turtle’s nesting habitat, eggs and young hatchlings. Take a guided tour along the Atlantic turtle nesting beaches with a naturalist guide. Next, to Tortuguero village. Meet Costa Rican school children on your visit to a local school. Stay two nights at the Laguna Lodge.

  16. Day Trip 4-6 • Day 4 – Tortuguero Park, Canal Cruise • Cruise this morning with naturalist guides along canals lined by raffia palm, habitat of howler and white-faced monkeys, green iguanas and tropical birds. Search for white egrets and the nests of the montezuma oropendola. Then, go the reflecting waters of Caño Palma wildlife reserve. Return to the lodge for free time to go to the swimming pool and tropical flower gardens at the lodge. Next, in the afternoon boat excursion into the canals of Tortuguero Park. Search for otters, turtles and manatees. • Day 5 – Pineapple Tour, Fortuna • Morning cruise on Tortuguero River. Visit a pineapple plantation. Sample Costa Rica’s famous sweet organic pineapples. Next, through the countryside to the San Carlos Valley for a two night stay in Fortuna Hotel. • Day 6 – Caño Negro, Hot Springs, Arenal • Head north this morning, passing through sugar cane, teak and orange plantations. Then, cruise on the Rio Frio. Look for whistling ducks, roseate spoonbills, cormorants, anhingas, blue heron, and northern jacanas. Watch for caimans, crocodiles, spider monkeys and web-footed, water-walking lizards. Return to Fortunato relax and soak in the volcanic hot springs. Then go see nearby Arenal Volcano’s glowing lava flow.

  17. Day Trip 7-9 • Day 7 – Hanging Bridges, Guanacaste • This morning adventure in the heart of the rainforest at the Hanging Bridges. Hike on six suspension bridges, through tropical rainforest canopy. Take views of a waterfall and look for tropical birds. Later, drive around Lake Arenal. Next, enter the Guanacaste province. Drive through the only tropical dry forest in Costa Rica. Stop in Liberia. Then, to Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast for a two night stay at the JW Marriott . • Day 8 – Pacific Coast, Guanacaste • This morning drive to the City and explore the various cultures and meet exciting new people. Free afternoon time to relax or swim the beaches of the resort or stay in the city. • Day 9 – Handicrafts, San José • Morning drive through the cattle ranches of Guanacaste. Stop at the Monteverde Cooperative. Sample delicious Monteverde Cheese. Continue en route to the Central Valley, stop and shop for colorful handicrafts, including painted oxcarts. Return to San José and stay at the Aurola Hotel.

  18. Day 10 • Day 10 – San José • Last day, tour ends after breakfast this morning at the hotel. Caravan later on in the day takes us to the San José airport.
