Facts About Earth • Earth is the third planet from the Sun. • Earth is the only planet known to have life. • Earth’s atmosphere is the only atmosphere that can sustain life. • Earth has 4 layers: Inner core, Outer core, Mantle and Crust. • Earth is ¾ made up of water.
Can a Civilization Live Here? Yes! A civilization can live on Earth. Actually right now, we are the civilization living on Earth! Earth’s atmosphere can support life. Earth is named the “Goldilocks Planet” Because it is not too hot nor too cold, it’s just right for life. Scientists have been studying the features of Earth to see if there is anyway possible life could live on any of the other planets. Recently, scientists have discovered an Earth- like planet in another solar system. Kepler 22b,(Earth-like Planet) is 600 light-years away. ( By the way, Nicki drew the background picture!) Gotten Information • It is really hard to explore other planets in our Solar System because they are farther away and some are just too dangerous to explore, But, this is not the case with Earth. Earth is the planet we live on so it is easier to gather information about it. Scientists study the Earth even if it is dangerous. Here is some things we know about Earth so far: • Earth has millions of types of wildlife. • Earth has active volcanoes. • Earth has 4 layers, and one of the layers is a layer that is made up of molten rock. The molten rock comes up crevices to form volcanoes. • Earth’s crust is made up of rocks and dirt. …. And many other things are being discovered!
Earth’s Rotation and Revolution • It takes Earth 24 hours to rotate on it’s axis. • It takes Earth 365 days to revolve around the Sun.
Earth’s Moon • Earth’s moon, “Moon” is the satellite the Earth has. It is actually the only Natural Satellite the Earth has. It is the fifth largest satellite in the Solar System. It is the first celestial body a person has landed on. The moon is really bumpy and it has many impact craters.
