  8. GREATER NOIDA At a glance • Established in 1991 • Notified area of 36,000 Ha • 5,000 Ha already urbanized • Population • Present – around 1.5 Lac (expected figure by 2006 was 3 Lac ) • By 2011 – 7 Lac • By 2021 – 12 Lac ( Current population of G B Nagar Dist)

  9. GREATER NOIDAUSP…as claimed… • Green and Clean environment • Infrastructure – lot of planning has been done • Is the golden chance of developing an ultramodern city being wasted ?

  10. GREATER NOIDANo shortage of plans… • Fast growing city • Plans alone will not do… has to be followed up with sincere action • Needs an approach which is more pro active and citizen friendly

  11. GREATER NOIDABut enough commitment ??? Lacks focus in the all important areas of PPP • POWER • PUBLIC TRANSPORT • POLICING And all 3 contribute to overall security in the City

  12. GREATER NOIDALosing Focus ??? Privatized power supply • Concept is good • Privatization without competition – A disaster for the consumers

  13. GREATER NOIDALosing Focus ??? • Authority funded buses …the yellow revolution • Failing miserably • Totally lacking professionalism and accountability

  14. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Security • Ineffective Private Security Guards • Patrolling is only for the name sake • Booths installed at roundabouts went missing long time back

  15. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Security • Less populated sectors are almost neglected by Police Example : • Knowledge Parks • Omega, Phi, Builders Area • Pi, Rho, Sigma , Swarna Nagri…

  16. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Security • Nights are scary on the roads in the absence of enough PPP • Factors making life vulnerable • Lack of a decent Public Transport • Absence of enough Police Patrol • Non functional street lights

  17. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Crime • Auto Lifting from markets, sectors and even from roads • Snatching of bags, mobiles etc • Thefts happening in houses, mainly locked ones • As population is very less, only possible deterrent is deploying more police on the streets and market areas

  18. GREATER NOIDAPresent Scenario : Traffic • No check on traffic violations • Driving on the service roads is mostly in the wrong direction • No control on Speed , especially on the service roads

  19. GREATER NOIDA Police Stations • Presently 4 Stations – Greater NOIDA, Kasna, Surajpur and Dhankore • None of the urban residential sectors come under the station named after the city • They come under Kasna Police station which is not in Kasna but in Beta II !

  20. NOIDA POLICEWeb site • Excellent and professionally done layout • Very little Information about Greater NOIDA sectors • Focus seems to be only on NOIDA • Shouldn’t it be renamed as Gautam Budh Nagar Police site ?

Some humble suggestions • Rename Kasna Police Station as Greater NOIDA City Police station and make it a model station • Complete computerization – CIPA • Deploying Electronic surveillance like CCTV cameras • Online complaint section on the web site needs to be more comprehensive • Complaint ID • Future follow up • Status of past complaints should be visible to General Public

More suggestions… • Patrolling to be improved, specially during nights • Set up a 24 hr call centre with centralized information like Phone numbers of Station Officers and Patrol vans • Accessing call centre via toll free lines from anywhere should be possible • Call centre should register public complaints

  23. And a few more suggestions • Patrolling on Express highway should be more efficient. .especially in nights • Vehicles crossing the central verge along Express way to be punished • Giving fixed tenure to Station Officers • More Police-Citizen interactions
