  1. How Stem Cell Treatment For Osteoarthritis Work On Patients? Osteoarthritis also known as degenerative joint disease is the most chronic condition of joints which restricts patients’ movements. Experts say there is no proper treatment for osteoarthritis, but the pain and discomfort can be reduced by use of injections and oral medicines. This type of arthritis can affect any joint and generally occurs in knees, hips, lower-back and neck, small joints of fingers, and bases of thumb and big toe. A lot of research is going on in this field as this chronic condition is affecting millions of people across the world. Stem cell treatment for osteoarthritis is one treatment which is helping few patients to regain their fitness and mobility. The cell therapy uses adult stem cells from the patient to develop needed cartilage to suppress the inflammation in joints. This therapy also regenerates cartilage matrix and elastin fibers that are not stable for intensive burdens. The new deposited cartilages are very fragile and can be destroyed with minimal amount of stress on joints. The aim in using stem cells is to support self-healing process of knee joint cartilage which could provide relief from Osteoarthritis symptoms. This treatment is used as additional medical care along with therapies that could improve patient’s functional status and quality of life. Researchers expect stem cells when applied to arthritis joints will develop into needed cartilage cells that can suppress inflammation as swelling in joints makes arthritis worse. The stem cells are also expected to release proteins that slow down cartilage degeneration that could help in decreasing pain in the joints.
