Private Hire Licensing • PHV Licensing in London began in 2001 • A PHV is any vehicle constructed or adapted to seat fewer than nine passengers which is made available with a driver for hire for the purpose of carrying passengers, other than a licensed taxi or public service vehicle • Private hire services wide ranging: Local ‘minicab’ services Chauffer industry Specialist needs vehicles Limousines and novelty vehicles

33. TPH limousine licensing VIVA • VIVA is a relatively inexpensive, one-off, vehicle inspection process which reflects the key technical areas as set out in European and UK National Type Approval legislation and are a standards and inspection service consistently applied across the UK by VOSA

Licensing your business Does your vehicle: Have 8 passenger seats or fewer? • Private hire driver, vehicle and operator licences required from local authority/TfL Have 9 passenger seats or more? • Public Service Vehicle Operator’s licence required from VOSA We can work with you to determine the correct type of licence required
