The India-based Neutrino Observatory: Status and Physics Prospects Professor Amitava Raychaudhuri Director of the Harish-Chandra Research Institute Abstract: The India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) project is in an advanced stage of R&D. In the first phase, a Magnetized Iron Calorimeter (ICAL) detector will be used to study atmospheric neutrinos. It is also being planned to eventually exploit it as an end detector for a long baseline experiment. After a brief description of INO and ICAL, including a status report, the physics issues which can be explored by ICAL will be discussed. HEP Seminar Special Wednesday 15th November Room 337 15:00 – 16:00
