What is Communication? • Speech Communication: the transmission of information or ideas by means of vocalized words.

What is Communication? • Intrapersonal communication: an inward talking to oneself • EXAMPLES: • Thinking through your math problem as you do it • Deciding what you are going to eat while reading the menu • Having a conversation with yourself in your mind (This is ABSOLUTELY normal!)
What is Communication? • Interpersonal communication: transmission of messages between two or more people. • EXAMPLES: • Texting with your best friend • Rolling your eyes at your mom • Talking with a group of classmates
