|.Introduction • Quality needs time in education as in science • to teach more about new technologies • to find new services in the IT-landscape • to develop new products and services • to find group of interests … time is a factor for quality. So we are sorry to get slowly access for the ENUM-Trial, to present to you.
|.Index and themes • What is ENUM ? • How is ENUM working ? • What is a NAPTR RR ? • Which numbers could be registered ? • What is an E.164 number ? • What is an E164.arpa Domain ? • Which possibilities could be realized about ENUM ? • Who can use ENUM ?
|.What is ENUM • What means ENUM ? • ENUM: electronic telephone number mapping • telecommunication- and internetservices could be connected about this protocol. • ENUM gives instructions to build telephone-numbers as a domain in RFC2916-Protocol of the ICANN • the „ENUM“-Domain can provide different services by using the DNS (for E-Mail, websites, Unified messaging)
|.What is ENUM • An "ENUM"-Domain can manage different services of telecommunication like: • GPS • GPRS • Fax • Voice-communication • mobile communication • and can assign them to different enddevices
|.How is ENUM working • Enter a number by an ENUM-supported telephone • e.g.: +49(country) 361(area-code) 3914866(user) • The phone changes the number into a Domain and a DNS-Request is starting in an IP-Network (WAN). • e.g.: 6.6.8.4.1.9.3.1.6.3.4.9.E164.arpa • In the result of DNS-Query could be found some resource records from registration and the handling of incoming requests for e-mails, calls,… • The called person can talk now through PC to the PSTN, or redirect the call automatically to a mailbox or an other configured service in DNS or PSTN
|.What is a NAPTR RR • NAPTR is an entry in a Domain Name System (DNS) • NAPTR RR: • Naming Authority Pointer Resource Record • With NAPTR you can decide how to handle with requests. • You can switch calls with SIP (Session Initiation protocol) to the configured address.
|.What is a NAPTR RR • 10 10 u E2U+tel !^.*$!tel:+493613914866!. • ^ Type: Name of Resource Record
|.What is a NAPTR RR • 10 10 u E2U+tel !^.*$!tel:+493613914866!. • ^ Order: If you have the some "Order"-number, the preference will be call up at first.
|.What is a NAPTR RR • 10 10u E2U+tel !^.*$!tel:+493613914866!. • ^ Flags: Controlling and transformation of the requested- system (e.g. phone) to an URI
|.What is a NAPTR RR • 10 10uE2U+tel!^.*$!tel:+493613914866!. • ^ Service: protocol of requested service and resulotionservice for SIP (DNS-DNS) and E164 (PSTN - DNS) to an URI
|.What is a NAPTR RR • 10 10uE2U+tel!^.*$!tel:+493613914866!. • ^ Regexp: regulary term for transformation of the request
|.What is a NAPTR RR • For 6.6.8.4.1.9.3.1.6.3.4.9.e164.arpa
|.Which numbers could be registered • The DeNIC e.G. allows to register following numbers which consist of allowed: • geographical numbers (e.g.: +49, +43, +81, …) + • area code (e.g.: 69, 361, 341, …) • code of networks for cellphones ( 15x, 16x, 17x) + • telephone number (3914866, …)
|.Which numbers could be registered • The DeNIC e.G. allows also to register following numbers: • national freecall numbers (0800) • national personality numbers (0700) • other serviceline codes like 0180,… will be accept in future of the pilot-project
|.What is an E.164 number • It is a recommened type of international telephone number • An E.164 number consist of an uniform principle: • the fixed area code for countries (Germany is +49) • an area code in the country • the number of user of the PSTN • the E.164-number is a decimal type and is acceptet to an maximum lenght of 11 numbers • Area code + local code + max. 11 numbers • ( +49 / 361 / 3914866 )
|.What is an E164.arpa Domain • Arpa is a Top-Level Domain which can be reached about all Root-Servers and is managed by RIPE • E164.arpa is a Second-Level Domain for ENUM • 9.4.E164.arpa is the ENUM-Domain for Germany and is controlled by DeNIC e.G in Frankfurt/Main • Service-providers like T-Systems offers numbers for customers, e.g.: 6.6.8.4.1.9.3.1.6.3.9.4.E164.arpa
|.Possibilities of ENUM • Networkelements could be found about one number • Services could be found with one number about DNS > E-Mail, GPS, Voice-Communication, Fax, Mailbox,… • The User can define the handling of requests, well known of 0700-Services • creating a solution to connect PSTN with persons who uses Voice over IP • with ENUM numbers also older phones can be connected to users in Internet
|.Who can use ENUM • private persons who would like to know more about this. • ISP's who want to make profit with this service.
