Slaves uprising against their masters happened commonly in America during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries Three of the best known uprisingsin the 18th century are the revolts by Gabriel Prosser in 1800, Denmark Vesey 1822, and Nat Turner in 1831.
Some Examples As long as there have been slaves in North America, there has been slave resistance. Almost all the uprisings ended in death. Unknown amount of slaves engaged in acts of resistance in attempt to improve their life. Nat Turner was one of the brave slaves who rose up against their masters and fought back for what they believed in. Nat Turner lived in Virginia and he led a slave rebellion on August 21st, 1831. It resulted in 60 White deaths and 100 or more Black deaths. This rebellion was the largest uprising since the Civil War in the southern United States. After it was over Nat Turner was sentenced to death and he was hung. The state also executed 56 other blacks for being a part of the rebellion.
