Definition: The word listen means to give attention to someone or something in order to hear them.( Oxford Advance Learners’ Dictionary). ENGLISH FOR PALESTINE contains a lot of listening materials including: lessons, dialogue, exercises, songs, etc…
Listening is the ability to identify and understand what others are saying. This involves understanding a speaker's accent or pronunciation, his grammar and his vocabulary, and grasping his meaning. The importance of Listening: listening is an important receptive skill. That is, one of the important ways of receiving information is through listening
The sub-skills that can be emphasized in listening exercises include: • Predicting what people are going to talk about. • Guessing at unknown words or phrases without panic. • Using one's own knowledge of the subject to help one understand. • Identifying relevant points; rejecting irrelevant information.
The Stages of Listening Process 1-HEARINGoccurs when sound waves strike the ear. 2-ATTENTIONinvolves filtering out some messages and focusing on others. 3-UNDERSTANDINGrefers to making sense of a message by assigning meaning to it 4-REMEMBERINGis the process of recalling information from memory. 5-Evaluatingit is a stage in which active listeners participate. 6-RESPONDINGconsists of providing feedback to the speaker.

Students hear someone askes about his T-Shirt. In grade 7 unit 5 page 22. It is about birds of Palestine. Of course, learners would be enjoyed to know much about their country and environment. Also they would be happy to know how to speak about birds in their country.
