  1. Very Useful Tips on How to Protect Your Home from Termites One of the most devastating things that can happen to your home would be termites. They can be costly to eradicate, and you could spend a lot of time and money to repair or replace the wooden structures and furniture that they damaged. Prevention is better than the cure, and the same principle applies when thinking of ways to protect wood from termites. This usually means finding ways to deter them from nesting or infesting in your home. Here are a few tips you can consider: • Check for sources of moisture – Termites need moisture and water to thrive. When they first settle in your home, they are likely to dwell in a place where they can get a steady supply of water. So, when your property has enough moisture and soil to support their colony, it becomes at risk for getting infested. You can prevent that by removing or reducing all unwanted sources of water and moisture buildup on your property. Keep your water pipes in good condition and make sure that all gutters are efficient. You can protect wood from termites by keeping water away from your home’s foundation. • Prevent them from feeding – Remove all unused pieces of wood like mulch, firewood, and landscaping wood from your home, as they could attract termites and support their growth. • Seal every possible access point – Keep termites away from your home by ensuring that there is no space for them to enter. Check for gaps, cracks, holes, or loose areas and have them caulked or sealed. • Apply a wood preservative like Q8 logoil– Specially formulated EPA-registered wood preservatives can effectively protect wood from termites. They can easily be mixed with the paint or applied as a sheer, non-film exterior coating. Consider a product that can penetrate deeply into the wood for full protection, so termites will be discouraged from burrowing. Make sure the wood preservative complies with all VCO restrictions.
