  1. National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network Dissemination Libraryhttp://ctndisseminationlibrary.org Meg Brunner, MLIS; Nancy Sutherland, MLSAlcohol and Drug Abuse Institute, University of Washington (WA Node) What is the CTN? Searching the CTN Library Example: Full record (Journal Article) Protocol information In 1999, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) launched the NATIONAL DRUG ABUSE TREATMENT CLINICAL TRIALS NETWORK (CTN). A partnership was forged that now comprises NIDA and seventeen state and regional Nodes, working with 178 community-based treatment programs (CTPs). The Full record for each item in the Library is a static web page (not a database report). This allows for greater control over design and features, as well as a stable, simple URL for each item. Each record contains an abstract, keywords, a link to the article online, and an indication of the Protocols, Nodes, and CTPs that were involved in the research. Protocol pages contain detailed information about each of the studies undertaken in the CTN. The page contains contact information for the principal investigator, a description of the intervention, “See Also” searches and web links for participating Node and CTPs, and the publications related to the study. The CTN Dissemination Library home page provides several options for information retrieval, including browsing by document type, field-based searching, quickly viewing newly added items, and learning about the CTN in general. Nodes of the CTN “See Also” searches for Nodes & CTPs Author “See Also” Search Basic Search Node or CTP web sites Latest publications The CTN mission is to conduct rigorous, multi-site clinical trials of behavioral and pharmacological treatment interventions for drug abuse, and to determine their effectiveness in a broad range of real-world treatment settings and with diverse patient populations. Through its Dissemination activities, the CTN hopes to transfer research results to addiction counselors and others to improve drug abuse treatment throughout the country, using science as the vehicle. Keyword “See Also” search Click Browse Index to view all terms in a field What’s New The What’s New page contains brief descriptions of the latest additions to the Library, as well as an archive of CTN Bulletin issues and reminders about upcoming meetings. Node / CTP information The CTN Dissemination Libraryweb site also features a page about each of the seventeen state and regional Nodes, including a list of all the protocols the Node is participating in, as well as the Nodes’s community-based treatment programs (CTPs). The CTN Dissemination Library Perform your search (example: select “Journal articles (Peer-Reviewed” from Doc Type drop-down box) to see the Brief report. • The CTN Dissemination Library is a digital repository of resources created by and about the NIDA CTN. • Single point of access to CTN research findings, treatment manuals, and other materials approved for dissemination. • Liaison with ATTC, SALIS, INCASE, and other organizations to raise awareness of evidence-based treatment research from the CTN. • Uses Inmagic’s WebPublisher Pro plus stable URLs for easy linking to internal pages. • CTN Librarians: Nancy Sutherland, MLS, and Meg Brunner, MLIS.
