2. Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy • Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind._____ • To me, it's always a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?," you can say, "Sorry, got these sacks.“________________________________________ • If you're a cowboy, and you're dragging a guy behind your horse, I bet it would really make you mad if you looked back and the guy was reading a magazine.__ • One thing a computer can do that most humans can't is be sealed up in a cardboard box and sit in a warehouse.___________________________________ • How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol? What are the 5 key components of a civilization? • To be considered a “civilization,” certain characteristics must exist within a group of people • In your groups, determine what characteristics are essential for a civilization to exist and survive, and even to flourish • Draw a mural depicting a civilization and explain how your image depicts the necessary characteristics of a civilization

6. Cities • The people of a civilization must be living in a given location – namely, a city • Today, people live in cities as well as towns and villages.
