DEEP ECOLOGY: STRENGTHENING OUR CONNECTIONS Workshop with Aryne Sheppard To create a sustainable future, we need more than data, facts, policies and rules. It requires a fundamental shift in attitude in the way people think and feel about our relationship to the natural world. The sciences of ecology and living systems tell us that we are all interconnected and interdependent, but we must understand these facts experientially, not just analytically. This felt sense of interconnectedness will enrich our creativity and help sustain our motivation. The Centre for Community Research, Learning and Action INVITES YOU! Workshop Objectives To ground people in a positive, felt sense of how they are sustained by the larger natural and social systems in which they live. To open up critical human feedback loops by providing people the opportunity to share their honest, personal responses to current human and planetary conditions. To support people in affirming their roles in building a sustainable future. To explore the different kinds of work needed to create a sustainable world. Workshop Instructor: Aryne Sheppard As an adult educator and facilitator for over twelve years, Aryne leads high impact community engagement programs in support of personal and social change. She holds graduate degrees in both Philosophy and Transformative Learning, and has worked in the fields of environmental sustainability, service learning and social justice.
