  4. HOSTWORM • A COMPUTER WORM THAT COPIES ITSELF TO ANOTHER COMPUTER IN A NETWORK AND THEN DELETES ITSELF COMPLETELY FROM THE PREVIOUS COMPUTER IT WAS CONTAINED ON.

  5. COMPUTER VIRUS • A MALICIOUS COMPUTER PROGRAM CREATED BY A USER WITH OBJECTIVES TO HARM OR STEAL ANOTHER’S PROPERTY

  6. COMPUTER WORM AN INDEPENDENT PROGRAM THAT MULTIPLIES ITSELF BY COPYING A SEGMENT OF ITSELF

  7. differences • Ones called a worm and the other is called a virus , and a virus has to be downloaded or activated and a worm doesn’t. • A virus modifies other programs and a worm usually doesn’t • A virus only executes when the host is runnin ,a worm is always active

  8. SIMILARITIES File infector viruses infect program files. These viruses normally infect executable code, such as .com and .exe files. The can infect other files when an infected program is run from floppy, hard drive, or from the network. Many of these viruses are memory resident. After memory becomes infected, any noninfected executable that runs becomes infected. Examples of known file infector viruses include Jerusalem and Cascade.
