VCH5 Words 1-3 • Impose (verb) To place a burden on or force oneself EX: I imposed upon my parents for a ride to school today. • Diminutive (adjective) indicating a small size EX: The black bear seems so diminutive compared to the Grizzly. 3. Attire (noun) clothing Ex: Anza Trail has strict requirements when it comes to attire.

  3. VCH5 Words 4 & 5 4. Provoke (verb) to stir up feelings in another person or animal EX: When barked at by a dog the rattle snake felt provoked. 5. Tyrant (noun) a cruel abusive leader Ex: Many say Hitler was a tyrant.

  4. VCH5, Words 6-8 6. Acknowledge (verb) to admit or recognize EX: Last night I acknowledged that I need to attend tutoring. 7. Literal (adjective) actual or factual EX: Many students take sarcastic comments too literal. 8. Exert (verb) to use or apply EX: When I ride my bike I exert a lot of energy.

Humiliate (verb) to put someone down or disgrace Ex: Its terrible when an adult intentionally humiliates a child. 13.
