DELTA Distributed e-Learning Tool and Resource Architecture
Functions • Ability to create and search for e-learning resources • Ability to search for resources and view the pedagogy that underpins them • ‘Grow context’ around resources • Find and explore related resources • Extend with additional ontologies
Key Elements • Semantic Web • Ontology driven • Distributed Repositories • Provides and consumes services from ELF • DELTA is in 2 parts: • Web service • Web based user-interface (demonstrator)

DELTA users • The following users have been identified: • Practitioners (Primary) – lecturers, teachers, and students in a ‘vicarious learning’ role • Learners (Secondary) – these could also be teachers in ‘vicarious learning’ role. • Quality Assurors (Primary) • Regional support agencies such as i10 in the East of England (Tertiary) • Teaching Support Units (Secondary) – from point of view of integrating into a MLE • Researchers (Primary) – for research as opposed to teaching • Repository Owners (Tertiary) – who own the various access and security policies • DELTA Administrators (primary) – from the point of view of maintaining the system (including the ontologies and metadata).
