  10. What’s wrong?

  11. Case study 1: Our client was charged unlawful pre-tenancy fees of £150 by their letting agent. They started by trying to negotiate out of court. This failed and they had to take their case to the small claims court. This first came to court on the 6th of June. The case has been delayed several times and is still not resolved – the case next calls in court on the 8th of November.

  12. Case study 2: Our client’s landlord didn’t register their deposit. They came to us for help to make sure the deposit was registered in a scheme – to do this you need to apply to the sheriff court. They applied for legal aid but this was refused. Our client needed to find £71 to lodge a claim in the sheriff court to get their deposit registered.
