Les Miserables Britain: • Post-war Britain was not a happy place • Read the article (abridged from the Daily Mail) and list all the things that were rubbish about living in 1947 Britain • Now, imagine you are Balcon and his crew – how would you use your position as a film-maker? • In small groups, come up with a storyline that would fit the mood of the time, then pitch it to the rest of us (who are dead miserable thanks to rationing etc)
