Scholarships Non-Merit-Based (you apply for) Merit- Based on GPA, ranking and test scores- apply at all 3 in-state univ (automatically included in your application). www.fastweb.com or www.zinch.com -- know your SSN- these are search engines for various scholarships you may apply for and check Basha Bears website under Career Center for additional scholarship search engines and listings.

Flinn Foundation • www.flinnscholars.org • US citizen, and AZ resident 2 years prior • Graduate from NCA accredited high school before July 2013 • 1300 cumulative reading and math of SAT or 29 on ACT • 3.5 unweighted GPA • Top 5% in class • Extracurricular involvement and leadership • Tentative deadline October 21 along with official transcript • Questions: cthompson@flinn.org

  7. 16 Core Courses • 4 credits of English. • 4 credits of math or through 4th year- one above Algebra II level. • 3 credits of lab science (Ag Science 1 and 2 together equates to 1 lab science credit and 1 elective credit. Hon Science Research is not a lab science). • 2 credits of social studies. • 1 credit of fine art- art, music, drama or dance. • 2 credits of the same foreign language- or through level 2 of any foreign language.

  8. AIMS High Tuition Waiver • Valid for 25% tuition at ASU, NAU or U of A for the freshman year. • Student must apply at either ASU, NAU or U of A and be accepted in order to receive tuition waiver. • Tuition waiver renewable upon university requirements. • If considering retaking a course for grade improvement see your counselor.

AIMS High Tuition Waiver GPA and Grade Requirement • Un-weighted GPA of 3.5 for core classes. • Only A’s and B’s, no C’s in the core courses. • A “C” in a weighted course does not convert to a “B”. • ACT 28 or higher or SAT read/math 1300 • You may retake courses for grade improvement. You don’t have to repeat an AP or honors, you can take grade level to make the requirement but that is not grade replacement. • Subject to change

AIMS Scores for Waiver • Must exceed on Writing, Reading and Math in order to be eligible for the AIMS High Tuition Waiver. • May exceed on any two AIMS tests and meet on the third plus score at least a 3 on any 2 AP exams in order to be eligible for the AIMS High Tuition Waiver. • You may not re-test to exceed your senior year.

  12. Good to Know • If you are planning on going out of state please apply to either ASU, NAU or U of A as a back up. • Going on a mission? Work with the Career Center for a deferment. • Apply for housing in September of senior year! • Fill out transcript request at BHS not online- that is only for archived students!

Check with individual college for application. • College Goal Sunday- 2nd Sunday in Feb- let financial advisor pre-fill out worksheet

Visit the Career Center for application. • Matriculation Agreement between MCCD and ABOR. • College Fair at Perry High Sept. 5 6:00 PM! • The Greater Phoenix National College Fair on Sunday October 2nd at the Phoenix Civic Plaza. • Central AZ College top 30% in 7th semester tuition waiver

Barretts and U of A Honors College • ASU: • Admission to the Honors/Competitive Admission Colleges (Journalism, Engineering, Business, Barrett, etc.) requires a separate application but no additional fee. Students are encouraged to apply before the first deadline. • U of A: Last year's Honors College student "at a glance" was: •  3.85 unweighted GPA; 1330 SAT math and reading; 30 ACT; 9-12 honors classes taken in high school • Apply early because the only way to be accepted is to have a net ID and password
