Hercules • Hercules was the most famous of the Greek mythological heroes. • Hercules is the son of Zeus and the son of Hera. • Hear was jealous of Hercules and sent two snakes to kill him in his crib. • Hercules was driven mad by the goddess Hera. In a frenzy, he killed his own children and wife. • For this crime, he was sentence to perform a series of task, or “labor”, for his cousin Eurystheus, the king or Mycenae.

  3. Hercules • By the time Hercules was an adult, he had already killed a lion. • The tasks are known as the twelve labors of Hercules. • The first tasks was to kill the3 menacing lion nemean lion, Hercules strangled it and carried it to Mycenae.

  4. Hercules • Hear, angry with Zeus for his adultery, had sent to destroy him. • Hercules wanted to join the gods of mount Olympus. • Even though his mother was a human, his father was the mighty Zeus himself, the king of the gods!

  5. The mighty Hercules • Hercules had been born with superhuman strength and courage.
