What is the public consultation about? The public consultation will centre on: • The progress of Irish Aid in meeting the White Paper commitments • The changed context at home and internationally • Ireland’s aid policy and programme priorities for the future
How to Participate People and organisations can participate in the consultation in any of the following ways: • By participating in one of the 4 public consultation meetings • By responding in writing • By organising a discussion on any matter of interest and sending responses in writing • By following the Review on Facebook, Twitter and online
End Result A Review Report will be published by the Government later in 2012, setting out the way ahead for the aid programme
Benefits of public consultation • Assists the decision-making process by ensuring that interested parties can express their views • Helps to gather useful information to inform the evidence base for making any decisions • Brings the aid programme closer to the citizen, and increases awareness and public ownership • Ensures openness, transparency and accountability
How long will the public consultation last? The public consultation will last for a 12-week period, between February 1st and April 25th 2012 Details of the 4 public meetings, and the Consultation Paper, will be made available in mid-December

Consultation at the Programme Country level • Using the Embassy network to solicit views and input from partners • 2 regional consultation forums • Side event with partner countries at the High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (South Korea, November 2011)
Management of the Review • Led by Minister of State for Trade and Development • Independent oversight by Irish Aid Expert Advisory Group (see http://www.irishaid.ie/about_iaeag.asp) • Resourced by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade/Irish Aid
