  1. The Fighting Ground By Avi

  2. A Book Summary • This book is about a boy, Jonathan, who disobeys his parents and goes out to fight in the war. He ends up getting captured and is held captive for a few days. He then escapes and finds his troops. He learns that they won. Then, he leads the troops to where he was held prisoner and the troops tell him to go in the house and open the door. To find out the rest of this story you are going to have to read the book. 

  3. What Gave Avi the Idea to Write This Book? • “One day, while driving to my home -- which was then in New Jersey -- I noticed a sign by the side of the road. The sign told about a tiny little battle -- the sign said "skirmish" -- that had taken place right at that spot during our Revolutionary War. Nothing important happened, just a little bit of war. But I started to think about that little battle, and how, though little, it must have made a major impact on some people. After all, the sign said a few people died. It was thinking about that event that helped me to create this book.”--Quote from Avi

  4. About Avi • (http://www.avi-writer.com/faq) • When Were You Born? • 1937, in the city of New York. I was raised in Brooklyn. • What's Your Favorite Book? • The Next one • Anything Else? • Listen and watch the world around you. Try to understand why things happen. Don't be satisfied with answers others give you. Don't assume that because everyone believes a thing it is right or wrong. Reason things out for yourself. Work to get answers on your own. Understand why you believe things. Finally, write what you honestly feel then learn from the criticism that will always come your way.

  5. The Revolutionary War • The whole story was set in the time of the Revelutionary War • The capturing of the other side and taking one or more people from them hostage was uncommon, but it still happened many times.
