Overview Overview • The following have been added to the Overview portion of the Tools for Success document: • Federal Law (NCLB) • School Improvement Plan Crosswalk • Louisiana State Legislature Statute Regarding School Improvement Planning • Systemic change is a cyclical process in which the impact of change on all parts of the whole and their relationships to one another are taken into consideration 3

Overview Louisiana Needs Analysis (LANA) • Allows Faculty Needs Assessments to be entered by faculty • Choice of Full LANA, Petit LANA, or Questionnaires only • Added a Parent Questionnaire link on Team Tools 6

Overview Action Plan • The SIP template has been streamlined and • made more user friendly for schools. • The Action Plan has been redesigned to include • goal and objective. • The Action Plan will include strategy, indicator of • implementation, and desired outcomes. 12

Overview Action Plan • The Action Plan pages have been reformatted to also include the following: • The Indicator and Procedures for evaluating the indicator are listed under each strategy and activity. • The timeline for each activity must be addressed with a start date and completion date. • Summative evaluations are inserted at the end of each strategy. 14
Overview Mission, Goals, and Objectives • Removed Vision, Mission, and Core Beliefs • Sections • Moved sample Goals and sample Objectives • out of the Appendix into the body of the Tools • for Success book • Updated Resources 9
Overview Louisiana Measure of Progress (LAMP) • An optional school evaluation component has been added that will assist schools in monitoring student progress – Louisiana Measure of Progress (LAMP) • The LAMP is an optional tool which can be used by the school for frequent review of student performance (e.g., progress monitoring, benchmark assessments) 15

Overview Professional Development • This section includes the updated National Staff Development Council definition of Professional Development. • Changes include moving documents from the Appendix to this section to provide clarity to the guiding questions as well as the general concept of professional development. • Additional resources are added to the Appendix. 17
Overview Family and Community Involvement • The name has been changed from Family Involvement to Family and Community Involvement. • Family and Community Involvement activity examples have been added to the Tools for Success. • An appendix has been added for the Family and Community Involvement section. 18
Overview Family and Community Involvement • The Family and Community Involvement appendix will include the following: • §1118 - Parental Involvement • NCLB, Title I, Part A - Parental Involvement (PI) - Calendar of Required Activities 19
Overview Curriculum • Added Content Literacy Strategy Descriptions to the Best Practices book • Updated Resources 20
Overview Coordination of Resources • The SIP budget pages have been deleted. • A column has been added to the new Action Plan page which identifies types of resources used and the cost. • This section of the rubric remained the same with the exception of the first question being removed. 21
Overview Degree of Implementation Guide (DIG) • Added to Tools for consistency with other parts of School Improvement • Web-based, quarterly reporting (currently in progress, as required by USDOE) • All documents have been aligned to a 4-point rating scale designed to streamline quarterly reporting • Protocols reviewed and edited for clarity 22

Overview Degree of Implementation Guide • Options included for the use of school and district designed protocol • Brief description of scientifically based research strategies added to the training document • Instructions for DIG Team leaders includes more specific instructions and clarity to instructions where needed • Thinking Map graphics included to add clarity to the process and responsibilities of leaders 24
