  2. Essential Question • Why is it important to be able to insure things of value in our lives, including body parts, talent, ability, and possessions?

  3. What is Insurance? • A promise of compensation for specific potential future losses in exchange for a periodic payment.

  4. Insurance • Everyone needs insurance. People have insurance for their home, car, health, and family. Have you ever thought about insuring a talent or ability you have? • Think about it… If a young major league baseball pitcher didn’t insure his pitching arm, and had an accident and couldn’t pitch anymore, how would he earn a living? How could he make that much money doing anything else? Many take insurance in case their one talent is lost.
