Year 10 ICT: Silver Unit 4: IT SECURITY FOR USERS My task: The ‘Manga Comic Group’, located in Japan is having many security issues that might threaten their computer system performance, as well as the security of its data/information. Your UK based supervisor has asked you to research what the security issues might be. The UK branch is worried that if these security issues continue they will not get the investment needed from Japan Head Office to continue to run the UK branch. Your supervisor wants you to prepare a presentation ready for the Japanese Investors visiting UK next month outlining your findings. The presentation must be broken down into three clear sections.
The points I have to cover are: • 1.1 Identify the security issues that might threaten system performance • 1.2 Outline appropriate security precautions to protect IT systems and data • 1.3 Identify threats to information security associated with widespread use of technology • 1.4 Outline appropriate precautions to keep information secure • 1.5 Suggest guidelines and procedures that will help company staff use IT more securely • 1.6 List points to help staff understand why it is important to backup data securely
What software can be installed to stop computer infections? Here is what to do to prevent a computer virus: Get a good anti virus software such as; AVG, Norton anti virus software or McAffee anti virus software. You can install a firewall! It is a security system consisting of a combination of hardware and software that limits the exposure of a computer or computer network to attack from crackers; commonly used on local area networks that are connected to the internet.
What is a computer virus? • Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation. • A virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your e-mail program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk. • Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files.
