Projects • Received all projects • These contained report and data sets • What’s next?
Presentations • Each group must now present their findings to the two shareholders • These will be held next Tuesday (21st) and Thursday (23rd) • 15 minutes long (10 minute presentation, 5 minute questions)
Group Presentation Times • Tuesday 21st • Group 2 • Group 4 • Group 6 • Thursday 23rd • Group 1 • Group 3 • Group 5
What’s Expected? • Explanation of your method (how? why?) • Explanation of your findings (what?) • What you concluded from your findings (so what?)
Options for Presentations • When creating a presentation you have many options • Its important to be familiar with your surroundings and aware of your skills • This will all impact on how well you present
Microsoft PowerPoint • De facto choice for many when presenting • Part of the popular Microsoft Office suite, so very familiar to people • Can be used to create both simple or detailed presentations
Google Presentation • Part of the emerging Google suite of applications • Similar in many ways to PowerPoint, so if you know that you will know this (not as bulky) • Excellent option to collaborate with others on creating a presentation
Prezi • Can be visually pleasing, making ordinary presentations more extraordinary • Does not take as much time to learn how to add these nice effects as PowerPoint • Can however take a bit of time to get used to, and you may need an internet connection to run them
Hints and Tips for Creating • Do’s • Take some time to plan out your presentation • Include road map at beginning and conclusion at end • Carefully consider colours and fonts you will use • Be consistent – same font, same colours, same heading, etc.
Don’ts • Have too much text on slides – brief bullet points only • Use too much animation, sound, or video • Panic
Hints and Tips for Presenting • Practice your presentation beforehand (including predicting what questions may be asked) • Don’t just repeat what’s on your slides • use brief bullet points to prompt/guide you • take your time and familiarise yourself with the slide before speaking • Pick a few faces from across the room and look at them while speaking
Before Christmas • Looked at the SDLC • Traditional Development vs Agile Development • Waterfall Model vs Scrum OR Extreme Programming (XP)
Going Forward • Social media platforms are emerging information systems • Currently causing a lot of change in people’s lives, organisations, and society • What are their potential?
Thanks • Any questions?
