Stakeholders • Logan Bostic Environmental Engineer on the project. Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the river and surrounding areas around the warehouse. • Harold Hyte Architect on the project. Responsible for turning the abandoned area into an inviting, modern space. • Logan Hayne The Transportation Engineer on the project. Responsible for the innovation and safety of transportation around the surrounding area. • Bryce Floyd The Civil Engineer on the project. Responsible for making sure the structure of the renovated building is sound and safe for use.
What is the problem? • “The city is considering purchasing a vacant warehouse in a blighted section of town. The area was once a busy manufacturing district along a riverfront near the downtown area. The city would like to convert the warehouse to a facility that provides a community service. The goal is to encourage redevelopment of the area.” • We need to set the standard in this area in terms of “green” space. Through building and continual upkeep of the area, we can begin to change the landscape of the city.
Benefits Of The Renovation • Added community center to the city area, which is a good way to get the underprivileged off the street. • Used old, abandoned warehouse to create an eco friendly “green” area which will save $4,420,666.00* over the span of 14 years. • Promotes renovation and innovation in an otherwise dirty area of town. • Area’s next top Y.O.L.O (Youth Outreach Love Others) in the City area. • Increased beauty of building with large skylights and new front facing windows.
Q&A’s • Q. How will the renovation affect the older community members? • A. Walking paths across the front of river now have a destination and will be used more. Not only will this increase guests in area, it will increase fitness. • Unanswered Questions • How will we keep waste and trash out of surrounding areas completely? • Due to length of the project, how will this affect the areas around it during the building process?
