KRA-L Kindergarten Readiness Assessment - Literacy
Kindergarten Readiness Assessment – Literacy (KRA-L) • The KRA-L is the only state assessment that must be administered to all kindergarten students. • Complete within first 6 weeks of school • Results reported to state through EMIS • Testing materials same as previous years www.ode.state.oh.us and search keyword “KRA-L”

Diagnostic Assessment- Requirements • Kindergarten: Only per transfer requirements • Grades 1 and 2: All students must be administered a diagnostic assessment in reading, writing and mathematics at least annually. • Flexibility in choice of diagnostic assessment if district met AYP • Grade 3: Only buildings in “School Improvement” status must administer a grade 3 writing diagnostic assessment to all third grade students.
Diagnostic Assessments- Requirements Transfer Students: • ALL districts regardless of “School Improvement” status or AYP: • must assess students (K-2 in reading, writing and mathematics and grade 3 in writing) who transfer into the district or to a different school within a district • if each applicable diagnostic assessment was not administered in the previous district or school; • may assess students who transfer into the district or to a different school within a district • if it cannot be determined that the student was administered a diagnostic assessment in the previous district or school.

Achievement Tests • All 18 Achievement Tests Operational in ’06-’07 • House Bill 66—Requires testing in 1st week of May • Testing Schedule April 30-May 4 • make-ups May 7-11 • Testing on Consecutive Days within a grade • Materials pickup by Friday of Test Week (May 4) • Test scores reported by June 15, 2007 • Test Question Release by 7/1/2006*

Alternative For Getting a Diploma Class of 2007 and beyond • pass 4 of 5 tests • missed “proficient” score by 10 points or fewer on the failed test • 97% attendance, no expulsion • 2.5 GPA in courses of test not passed • participate in intervention • letters recommending graduation from principal and teachers
