The Delivery of the Scriptures • 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God • Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. • Psa 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The Delivery of the Scriptures • 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God • 1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. • 1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. • 1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

The Delivery of the Scriptures • Notice what Peter said: • There are Restrictions to the Word of God • 2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. • There is a Reality about the Word of God • 2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The Delivery of the Scriptures • Notice what Paul said: • Denied that they are from Man • Gal 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. • Declared that they are from the Master • Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

  7. The Demonstration of the Scriptures • Doctrine • Disapproves • Disciplines • Direction • Psa 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

  8. The Demonstration of the Scriptures • The Word of God gives us everything we need….. • Tells us what is Right “Doctrine” • Tells us when we are not Right “Reproof” • Tells us how to get right “Correction” • Tells us how to stay right “Instruction”

The Discipleship of the Scriptures • The Scriptures Furnish us • 2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: • The Scriptures make us Fruitful • Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

False Standards in Religion • Feelings • Gen 37:31 And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood; • Gen 37:32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat or no. • Gen 37:33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. • Gen 37:34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

False Standards in Religion • Feelings • Pro 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. • Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. • Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? • Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

False Standards in Religion • Conscience • Act 9:1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, • Act 9:2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. • Act 23:1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

False Standards in Religion • Common Sense • Jer 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. • Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. • Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

False Standards in Religion • Human Creeds • Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: • Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. • Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. • Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

False Standards in Religion • Human Creeds • Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. • Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. • Deu 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

False Standards in Religion • Human Creeds • Mar 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, ….. • Mar 7:9 Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. • Mar 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition…..

  17. The True Standard in Religion • The True Standard in Religion is the Word of God ! • Not our Feelings • Not our Consciences • Not any Human Creed • Not our Common Sense

What we MUST do to be saved • Hear • Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. • Believe • Joh 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. • Repent • Luk 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

  19. What we MUST do to be saved • Confess • Mat 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. • Baptized • Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. • Behave • Rev 2:10 Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
