What is “Twitter?” • “Microblogging” within 140 characters • “Tweet” your short messages that can be transformed onto a timeline. • Anyone who is interested can follow you (branding yourself), or you can follow anyone who doesn’t have their tweets protected. • Ex) Celebrities, News Sources, Friends

  3. History • Created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass • Odeo/“twttr” • In 2010, 50 million tweets per day – a year later, 150 million tweets per day. • #22 to #3

How to tweet.... • Tweeting links using “t.co” • To embed a Tweet on your website or blog: (via twitter) • Click Embed this Tweet, located at the bottom of any Tweet permalink page. • Select HTML, Shortcode, or Link from the pop-up dialog box. • Copy and paste the code provided in the dialog box into your blog or website.

  16. “Follow Friday?” • How can you take advantage of it? • Follow Friday is where people will shout out their followers and tag #FF or #followfriday. This occurs every Friday, and was VERY popular when twitter first began. • It gives users a chance to see new faces on their timeline. It also gives users a chance to gain followers and build new relationships with people they may not have been following before.
