Freshmen (Finishing “Marigolds”) By the end of this chapter you will be able to… 1. Identify…direct and indirect characterization, the four ways authors can use speech to reveal character, and other methods authors use to create characters 2. Compare and contrast the way the authors of two different stories used methods of characterization and judge which one was better. 3. Explain how the story would have been different if another form of character development was substituted in a particular story (i.e. switching first person narration for an omniscient narrator) **Note: #1 will be shown in your notes and through formative assessments throughout the chapter; #2 will be done with partners (Venn Diagram or related task); #3 will be your short, constructed response for this unit.
