My Role as Tourism Manager of the Central Goldfields Shire Council • Key Responsibilities: • Developing Tourism and Business partnerships. • Maximising the value of tourism activity with the Shire by a strategic focus on key opportunities. • Active participation in local and regional tourism associations. • Establish and cultivate cooperative marketing opportunities. • Assist in securing external funding for local initiatives. • Managing the Shire’s Visitor Information Centre’s. • Promote tourism assets. • Increase visitation, length of stay and yield. • Foster product development to meet visitor expectations.
Central Goldfields Shire Tourism Vision • To Position Central Goldfields Shire as an internationally, nationally and locally renowned historic goldfields and environmental support centre celebrating and sharing its unique heritage, its pristine natural environment, built attractions, arts and culture, rural landscapes and relaxed, peaceful lifestyle. • Tourism will be developed and sustained by appropriate, balanced, innovative inclusive and well researched policies ensuring a best practice visitor experience and flow on social, economic and environmental benefits to the Central Goldfields Shire community.
Central Goldfields Shire Tourism Strategy • Central Goldfields Shire Destination Strategic Tourism Plan aims to: • Provide a direction and focus for the local tourism industry • Develop sustainable tourism options. • Strengthen the basis for Local, State, and Federal Government support. • Allow for the better utilisation of the existing tourism infrastructure and develop innovative new methodologies. • Support the development and marketing of the Shire’s arts and cultural strengths and presentation, as a major component of the tourism strategy. • Encourage the creation of new tourism product. • Enhance and conserve the unique properties, places and opportunities the Shire has to offer. • Address the challenges of a dynamic, domestic and international tourism environment.
