  11. Induction Rehearsal: The actual Ceremony Process • At 6:55 pm, the NHS members in the Lobby will close the doors & join the other Members in the Cafeteria. • The NHS Members will be lined up alphabetically in two rows. • They will proceed out of the cafeteria along the side of the auditorium, and enter from the lobby.

  12. Induction Rehearsal: The actual Ceremony Process • The rows will split to enter the left and right doors, and proceed down the aisles, past the new Inductees. • The NHS Members will take seats on the left and right of the stage. • The NHS president will call everyone to order.

  13. Induction Rehearsal: The actual Ceremony Process • The NHS president will open with an introduction. • Then, the NHS V-P goes to the podium, reads the scholarship paragraph, and then, from the lighted candle, lights the first small candle on the table. • As VP sits down, the Exec. Council Member walks to the podium, reads the leadership paragraph, and then lights the 2nd small candle on the table.

  14. Induction Rehearsal: The actual Ceremony Process • As ExCM sits down, the Sergreant-at-Arms walks to the podium, reads the service paragraph, and then lights the 3rd small candle on the table. • As SaAsits down, the other ExCMwalks to the podium, reads the character paragraph, and then lights the 4th small candle on the table. • As the last ExCM sits down, the Secretary & 2 NHS members move to the table with certificates, membership cards, and signature book.

  15. Induction Rehearsal: The actual Ceremony Process • At the same time, the Usher moves to the front row of chairs to usher students to their seats. • The first Stage Participant walks to the podium, reads the paragraph explaining the tapping, and the first set of names. • Officers & Stage Participants: we will be going over this in detail AFTER the main body of students have been dismissed. Please remain.

  16. Induction Rehearsal: The actual Ceremony Process • When a Inductee Name is read: • The Inductee should stand and exit their row and proceed down the left or right aisle. • Inductees will be seated alphabetically– with an indication of LEFT OR RIGHT (so you will know what to do). • A NHS Member will meet them halfway up the aisle, and escort them to the steps of the stage. • The Inductee will then proceed to the table, where they will be given a charm by the NHS Secretary, and will sign the membership registration & receive their certificate folder. • Then the Inductee will be escorted to their seat on the stage by the Usher. • The entire row remains standing UNTIL it is full.

  17. Induction Rehearsal: The actual Ceremony Process • When all the Inductees have been tapped, and proceeded to the stage: • The NHS President will go to the podium. • The Stage Participants will light their candles, and then the candle of the person next to them. • Until all the candles are lit. • (After lighting the inductees’ candles, speakers return to their seats and carefully blow out their candles. ) • The President then reads the membership pledge, congratulates new members, and invites guests to the reception in the cafeteria. • Proceed to the Cafeteria for the Reception.

  18. Induction Rehearsal: Questions & Answers • Raise your Hand, so we can see you. • A few answers to FAQs: • If you have to ask whether it is appropriate dress, it isn’t! • We cannot watch/keep your purse, backpack, cellphone, et cetera, for you. • This is a long and serious ceremony, so small children will not have much fun during it. • Yes, we will pull you out of the ceremony if you are not dressed appropriately. • You really do need to have your cell phone off. • We recommend parking by the Freshman Academy, but that fills up FAST. Secondary parking can be found in front of the school & the Senior Gym lot.
