Querying 3DVia Graphics for Fastener Data & other engineering authority. Note: At first this looks like a lot of work, but once you’ve done it once or twice, you can query any geometry in 3DVia in less than 10 seconds….if not faster. REFERENCE ONLY. STEP 1.

Querying 3DVia Graphics for Fastener Data & other engineering authority Note: At first this looks like a lot of work, but once you’ve done it once or twice, you can query any geometry in 3DVia in less than 10 seconds….if not faster. REFERENCE ONLY
STEP 1 • With 3DVia open, and the fastener operation you want to query pulled up, turn on the “Assembly Selection Mode”. • Open the assembly tab • right click in the light gray blank area • Click “Assembly Selection Mode” in the pop-up window • Note: Nothing will happen, but assembly selection mode is now on Right click here
STEP 2 Next, turn on the properties window you can see see what you’re selecting… -right click any of the tabs (such as “Assembly”) -click “properties” in the pop-up -you’ll now see the “Properties” window pane pop-up…this is where your fastener data will be shown..along with anything else you query Right click here Properties Pane appears here
STEP 3 With the properties pane now open and assembly selection mode on…click a fastener point in the graphics. Sometimes you may have to rotate the view or zoom in if you’re having a hard time clicking the JD. 1) I clicked on the fastener point 3) These are the properties for the point 2) The point in the assemble tree highlights…we can see it’s under JD 11
STEP 4a – JD requirements Now that we have the point pulled up in the tree under JD 11, we query the JD as if we were in CATIA or REDARS and the properties will appear in the properties pane. When I click JD 11 in the tree, I now see all the requirements for that JD. 2) Properties for JD 11. To expand an item click the “…” at the end of each line 1) Click JD 11
STEP 4b – standards If I want to see the fasteners under JD 11, I click the “NON INSTANTIED PARTS” under JD 11 2) Properties for the non instantiated parts…in this case, the nominal grip length fasteners & nuts/ collars /etc 1) Click NON INSTANTIATED PARTS under JD 11
