The Challenges • 6 Active new model launches at various stages of launch • All launch activities are give a project code in QAD e.g. ZZZ – 18 Model Accord • New model parts are ordered using QAD discrete PO using the customer part numbers • Material is expensed at time of receipt • Inventory balance is lost at time of receipt • Order history and changes are difficult to track
The Solution - EAM 2015 • EAM 2015 (v 12.9.0.1) – Projects and Jobs • Project codes track all launch related expenses • Jobs are created for each launch specific event • Material can be purchased to a job for a specific event or to the project for multiple events
The Solution – EAM 2015, cont. • Order history and PO change history is tracked using standard EAM functionality • Carry over parts are issued from QAD to the project • Customer part numbers are easy to add to EAM • When design is finalized for a specific part the QAD part number is created • EAM 2015 (v12.9.0.1) allows a part number to be changed and retains history
The Solution – EAM 2015, cont. • Jobs – not to be confused with a work order • A job is created tied to a specific project and milestone event (design level) • Non inventory material can be purchased to specific job • Inventory (common) material can be issued to a job • All transactions are tracked in the standard EAM 2015 inventory transaction history browse • Costs flow through to QAD G/L and are tied to the project
The Solution – EAM 2015, cont. • Reporting • Project / Job reports can be developed in seconds using the inventory transaction browse • PO revision history is maintained in EAM including price and quantity changes • Reports use Excel format
Results • Accurate Launch Costs • Improved Order Traceability • Streamlined Customer Part Management • Real-time GL Visibility • Detailed Reporting • SUCCESS: Inventory Tracking and Purchasing Improved
