Exercise: Can you work out the last two digits in the number 9374
Solution: • 3143 has a pattern which repeats it’s last digit in the order 39713971----. Therefore 3143 has a last digit 7 • 2137 has a pattern which repeats it’s last digit in the order 24862486----. Therefore 2137 has a last digit 2 • 7218 has a pattern which repeats it’s last digit in the order 79317931----. Therefore 7218 has a last digit 9 • 17263 has a pattern which repeats it’s last digit in the order 79317931----. Therefore 17263 has a last digit 3 • 9374 has a pattern which repeats it’s last two digits every 10 values eg 95 ends in 49 as does 915 etc therefore 9375 has a last digits 49 which can be seen if you write out the pattern in full. The pattern shows that the last two digits of 9374 are 69.
