It took them 15 minutes to descend 600 feet in elevation. What integer represents their change in elevation each minute? • Write the problem. −600 ÷ 15 • The integers have different signs so the answer is negative. • −600 ÷ 15 = −40 • The family’s elevation change is represented by −40 feet per minute.
