Elsinore High School Attendance Policies and Procedures
All classroom doors will be locked every period every day • Once the tardy bell rings • Tardy students will go to Attendance for processing • Pick up a pink time stamped tardy pass • Write your name on the tardy pass before exiting the Attendance Office • Proceed directly to class • Provide your tardy pass to your teacher • Teachers will mark your attendance • If you get a pass from Attendance but never make it to class, you will be marked absent and that will become a truancy – discipline to follow • If you take an excessive amount of time to get to class from Attendance, your name will be forwarded to Ms. Pedretti for discipline Tardy Procedures
Truancy – you can receive a Saturday Work Study (SWS) for each truancy you have • Tardies – you can receive SWS for every 6 tardies • If you do not attend SWS, you may be assigned further discipline Attendance Discipline
Absences • If you are absent, your parent/guardian must call the attendance office within 5 days to clear the absence. • After 5 days, your absence is unexcused and cannot be changed. • If you miss school for a doctor or dentist appointment, get a note from the doctor or dentist and submit that to the attendance office. • If you are going to be gone for 5 – 20 days, you can request independent study. • Independent study requests must be made at least one week in advance of the absence. If you miss 3 days of school, you will receive a letter from the district regarding chronic absenteeism. • If you miss 6 days, you will receive a second letter from the district regarding chronic absenteeism. • If you get to 10% of our total school days in absences AND you will be scheduled for a SART* meeting with your parents and Ms. Pedretti. • ie: If we've been in school 20 days and you've been absent twice, you are eligible for a SART meeting. Chronic Absenteeism *SART – School Attendance Review Team, includes Ms. Pedretti, Ms. Nolasco from the district office, parents/guardians, and student.
If you continue to be absent after the SART meeting, you will have a SARB** meeting at the district. • If your chronic absenteeism continues, you will have a meeting with the deputy district attorney who may fine your parents or charge them with a misdemeanor. Chronic Absenteeism **SARB – School Attendance Review Board, includes everyone from the SART plus Dr. Behar, an SRO, a district nurse, a social worker
