Some dates for your diaries • Monday 29th September - INSET day • Monday 6th October – SATRO Mega Structures Challenge • Thursday 9th October - Harvest • Thursday 23rd October at 7pm– SATs/PGL information evening • Friday 14th November – Greek Day – Hobgoblin Theatre Company in. Get your togas ready! • Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th November- Parents’ Evenings • Thursday 4th December – Open Morning • 11th-14th May - SATs Week • Friday 12th – Monday 15th June - PGL

  4. What do we learn about in Year 6? • History • Ancient Greeks Aztecs • Geography • Mountains and Volcanoes Rivers • Science • Micro-organisms Classification Electricity Light Dissolving and Changing State Evolution and Inheritance

Groups/Intervention • SATs/PGL Information Night Thursday, October 23rd 2014 7pm • Five dedicated teachers helping your children reach their best potential • Initially grouped under Miss Simpson, Mrs Tisi and Miss Daniels • Further groups with Mrs Millward and Mrs Roberts/Mrs Boulton • We also have support from Mr Razzell, Mrs Vincent and Mrs Van Roijen

  6. Homework Schedule • Daily – 10 minutes Reading, Spelling, Maths Facts Learning/Practice. • 30 minutes written homework • If your child has lots of extra curricular activities or any trouble handing the homework in on a certain date, please let us know. • We do not want children spending hours on their homework. If they are struggling, please just let us know and we can revisit the work in class.

Spelling Practice Ideas Maths Facts Practice Ideas • Read, Cover, Write, Check • Write, paint, colour, illustrate, type in different fonts each word • Create acronyms of difficult words • Look up unfamiliar words in the dictionary • Maths Zone games on the computer • Make a times table rhyme or song • Chant your tables • Play quick fire questions with your parents, carers or siblings

PE/Games – teaching children to develop a healthy life style • 6D – Wednesdays and Fridays • 6S – Tuesdays and Wednesdays • 6T – Tuesdays and Wednesdays • Please ensure your children have suitable supportive trainers a white GrevilleT-shirt and blue shorts • Cold Weather Gear – tracksuit preferably blue or black
