  2. Current cooperation • Area based programme in South Serbia - Municipal Improvement and Recovery (MIR) • Civil Society Inclusion in Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) • Serbian Privatization Agency (former CBF/ ID PAR cluster) UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

UNDP Programme in South Serbia Municipal Improvement and Recovery (MIR) • To strengthen municipal capacities for service delivery including improvement of infrastructure and social services • To strengthen community and civil society structures through participation in municipal planning and decision-making processes and identification of key development priorities. • To relieve the effects of economic collapse through labour intensive, infrastructure sub-projects UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

  4. UNDP Programme in South Serbia Municipal Improvement and Recovery (MIR)BUDGET Total budget 7.5 million Euro is financed by: • EU/European Agency for Reconstruction: Euro 6.5 million • Participating municipalities:25% of investment budget: Euro 1,000,000, UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

Civil Society Inclusion in Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) This project is aimed at contributing to policy dialogue between Government and civil society in Serbia by including civil society organizations in: • formulating, implementing and monitoring of Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) • institutionalizing participation of civil society organizations in social services delivery • entry point for opening up policy making process for the civil society • strengthening oversight function of the Parliamentary Committee for Poverty Alleviation UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

  6. Civil Society Inclusion in Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP)BUDGET • European Agency for Reconstruction in Serbia: 1,000,000 EUR (July 2003 - July 2005) • New EAR contributions (CARDS 2004): 620,000 EUR (Nov. 2004 – Nov. 2005) UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

  7. Serbian Privatization Agency • Increased institutional capacity and staff capability of the Serbian Privatization Agency • Improved transparency and sustainability of the privatization process in the Republic of Serbia UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

  9. Lessons learned (negative experiences) • Institute for Public Administration – EAR wanted to establish a training facility • Ministry for International Economic Relations, Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro: EAR complains to the Dutch UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

  10. New Initiatives • UNION MIER problem solved- entry point for the CARDS Programme for the strengthening of the State Union Level structures • Continuation of all ongoing projects: the South Serbia, Civil Society and Privatization Agency • Possible support to the Municipal Training Center UNDP Serbia and Montenegro

  11. UNDP SCG approach towards EAR • Partnership approach • Continuation of political and technical dialogue (UNDP-EAR) UNDP Serbia and Montenegro
